15+ Lesser-Known Freelancing Sites with Low Competition in 2022

lesser-known-freelancing-sites-low-competition

Most experienced freelancers will likely tell you not to rely on freelancing marketplaces to find work.

It’s good advice because those sites, like UpWork, pressure you to compete with other freelancers and lower your rates to win jobs.

But, the truth is, we all have to start somewhere and the chances are even the most experienced freelancers have used a freelancing site at some point in their career to score a project or two.

The first freelancing site I used was Elance (now UpWork). I didn’t get many jobs on this platform, but I used it to connect with clients and build long-term partnerships. At the time, there wasn’t too much competition on Elance so landing a job was easier than it is today.

part time vs full time freelancing

Want to make a little bit of extra cash on the side?

Who would say no to that, right?

Freelancing is actually one of the highest-growing industries in the world today. Look at all the new freelancing sites popping out everywhere.

People are leaving their day jobs to work from home and triple their monthly paycheck.

It’s also turning out to be a great part-time job as well. College students do it to pay their tuition fees, moms at home do it to make ends meet, and 9-5 office workers are doing it too.

However, not all find success at freelancing.

Most new freelancers fail because of three main reasons:

  • Assuming they can make money by sitting in front of a computer.
  • Inability to find clients.
  • Not taking the job seriously enough.

Will Artificial Intelligence (AI) Replace Freelancers?

ai replace freelancers

Will artificial intelligence (AI) replace my job? What will we do when that happens?

It’s a question that most people are now starting to think about.

To be honest, I’ve often wondered about it too.

Just recently, I came across a software that writes articles using Artificial Intelligence (AI). That’s basically my job automated by a robot.

My first thought was that this software won’t be able to replace me. It will probably generate some robotic articles with words scraped from the Internet. And boy was I wrong.

This AI software is capable of generating high-quality articles. You only have to enter a few keyphrases and it generates an article as if it was written by a human.

As a full-time freelance writer, this was very concerning for me. And the scary part is that it’s not the only software I came across. There are many other AI software and platforms that are already replacing my job.
